Pregnancy Belly Cast Painting

An old friend of mine purchased a Pregnancy Belly Cast and completed it whilst she was pregnant with her first child, Owen.

These are great things to do when pregnant, however as it is essentially just plaster of paris, it does not give a great finish. As it takes quite a lot of hard work, especially to someone heavily pregnant, having to be moulded for hours, I think it would be much nicer to have one of these painted before being displayed for all to see. Which is what I have done…

A belly cast was used, just like the one below….

I was then given a scan picture of baby Owen and was asked to paint it onto the cast along with a few butterflies….

As you will see from the photos there are still a few white bits around the edges, these will not be visible once it has been mounted onto the wall, once it is displayed I will repost a very final photo!

Kuredu Sunset

Upon return from their holiday, my parents gave me a photo of a view of the sunset in front of their villa on the island of Kuredu in the Maldives. Take a look below…. I’m hoping that they like it!!!

About Me

Hi everyone!

As I have a moments peace from my hectic life I thought that I would sit down for a moment and write an ‘About Me’ post.

My love of Art has always been with me and is something that, even going back to winning a drawing competition in Primary School, is a love that has been a constant in my life. (Although at times put on the back burner)

After leaving Secondary School with an A* at GCSE level, I went onto The Somerset College of Arts and Technology. Although this is a fantastic college with great tutors, whilst at college I unfortunately started to realise that there are much more talented artists out there and became more worried about doing everything technically correct. Due to this, I lost a huge amount of confidence in my work and put down my paintbrush until this year, 2012.

After having 2 beautiful children and finding a little more time to myself, I have decided to pick up my paintbrush once more. Doing so now without caring what College tutors or School teachers think of how I am doing or giving tips on how to complete a project. Now I can simply paint things that inspire me and complete pieces when I so desire. Doing this has made me much more confident in my work.

Hopefully those who have purchased and view my paintings will grow to love them as much as I have whilst working on them!

Thanks and Update…

Thanks for the lovely compliments from everyone so far! I'm currently working on my next piece and will post as soon as complete.
For those of you kind enough to ask, yes I would consider commissioning a painting and anything that I post online (apart from the previous painting of Suzanne and Owen which already has a home) will be available to purchase.
However, please know that I only make one offs and not prints, so once something is sold it is gone.

Thanks for now,

Sue x
