My next painting is taken from a much loved candle of naked lovers, something that I have had for years….
Then started thinking about the colours I would like to use in the painting…

Thanks for the lovely compliments from everyone so far! I'm currently working on my next piece and will post as soon as complete.
For those of you kind enough to ask, yes I would consider commissioning a painting and anything that I post online (apart from the previous painting of Suzanne and Owen which already has a home) will be available to purchase.
However, please know that I only make one offs and not prints, so once something is sold it is gone.
Thanks for now,
Sue x
This is a photo of my friend Suzanne, walking with her son Owen.
As a moving in present I decided to paint my interpretation for her new home….
Whilst thinking about how I wanted to do this, I decided that I would love Owen to be the main feature in the painting, without him being the largest object or in the centre. So to do that I thought about painting everything in black, white and grey then put Owen in colour….
With it starting to take shape, to try and give a little depth I sketched my idea direct onto the canvas and laid down the basic colours, whilst still deciding about how to do the background.
A few more hours later, once the original colour layers had dried I could add light and shade and decided to keep the background in dark colours to ensure that Owen was the only one in colour.
Welcome to my new blog, which I am very excited to start working on!
I have always loved to paint, however I have always shied away from showing too many people.
I have decided that now is the time to bring my art to the world.
My main love is to work with oils and to paint people. There has always been something about painting people that fascinates me. Everyone is different with both looks and personality and to get this across in an image I have created, with the commissioner loving and recognising what I have done, brings me a huge amount of pride and satisfaction. So you will see as more and more of my work gets uploaded that the main theme will be images of friends, family and strangers.
Hope you enjoy!
